Tot Tips

«Back to October News Bulletin

mom_with_baby_carrier_black_140x192We asked you how do you soothe your baby? and you responded with your many tried and true techniques. Here are a few of our favorites:

  • “I hold him facing outward, facing the mirror, and do squats. He forgets why he's upset and smiles instantly.”

  • “Hold him close and hum or sing in a low tone. The vibration calms him down (almost) every time!”

  • “To soothe my babies I sing soft songs, give them warm baths, and hold them while gently bouncing. We have found that a large yoga ball works wonders for bouncing. Our babies absolutely love it!!!”

  • “We are lucky enough to live next to a trail through a nature reserve. As soon as our daughter was large enough to fit into her BB carrier, we've taken her for long hikes whenever she has been fussy. Up until she was about five months old she would not only fall asleep on the hikes but she would stay asleep when we would take her out of the carrier and put her in her bed. Now she only sleeps on the hikes but it still helps cut down on the fuss!”

  • “We run a humidifier in her room every night. It provides white noise and humidity in a dry climate. We also have a little song/jingle that we have been singing to her (when upset) since she's arrived. Now, if she's crying, all we have to do is start singing the jingle and she calms down right away.”

  • “Both of my girls love a night-time bath. We lather them up with lavendar lotion, put on fresh PJs and it just seems to calm them down. Caroline loves for you to rub her back or play with her hair. Emma bug loves for you to rub her ears. Ha. It sounds weird but it works. It calms her right down.”
